Neville Hall Newcastle →
Neville Hall is a distinctive heritage property in Newcastle upon Tyne known for its stunning period detailing.
As part of its recent redevelopment, business owners ‘The Common Room’ put the project out to tender through the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Southernsbroadstock won the bid to furnish the hall with the furniture needed to support the venue and its facilities.
The project involved furnishing their main hall, known for its impressive stained glass windows, as well as their on-site bar, 5|Quarter. As this was a Grade 2 listed building, we liaised closely with the architect to ensure any designs considered its historical features. An on-site survey ensured accuracy throughout the entire process and regular visits allowed us to provide a perfect fit for any custom designs.
Chic, Contemporary Design
For the 5|Quarter bar, our interior designers styled it with a range of elegant high-end furniture to reflect its sophisticated atmosphere. A mix of textured fabric and a rich colour palette helped to add to its luxurious aesthetic, while metallic accents offered a low-key nod to the building’s Victorian heritage.
The fit-out also extended into food preparation areas of the business. We integrated a number of white goods and wine racks to create an entirely bespoke solution for The Common Room.
The main hall required a large amount of banqueting furniture to allow the venue to host its maximum capacity of 325 guests. Versatility was high on the agenda when selecting seating as the hall would be used for a variety of events, from weddings to lectures.
We chose a range of multi-use chairs that were comfortable and could easily be re-arranged to suit the event type. In transitional spaces, such as hallways and landings, we also provided statement armchairs to match Neville Hall’s stately interiors.
The final result was every bit as contemporary While Covid-19 impacted lead times for products and fabrics, we supplied the venue with 50 chairs on loan and free of charge over an 8 week period to ensure they could still function through the pandemic. It was also a challenge working within an older building due to unusual door sizes, unusual levelling and with an external environment opening out directly into the city. However, with extra care and planning, we delivered the client’s vision to the letter.
