NHS England’s Victoria House estate was in need of modernisation to revamp it for the era of hybrid working. Set in expansive grounds with plenty of greenery, the imposing period property required a full redesign to offer its staff a flexible working environment that would cater to diverse needs.
Southernsbroadstock Interiors were tasked with the transformation and delivered a fresh new layout tailor-made for their team.
These four words have come to represent how environmental design should be approached within the NHS. Each represents a specific workstyle, which in turn should be represented in the interior layout. We worked closely with the client to ensure that every different need was met and created a bespoke solution to streamline their day-to-day operation.
As part of the redesign for Victoria House, Southernsbroadstock Interiors created a number of micro-environments that met the conditions of the four Cs. Bright and open-plan spaces were given colourful breakout furniture ideal for communication and collaboration. Single-seater and larger meeting pods now provide discrete areas for concentration. And soft seating spaces were designed to provide a contemplative area ideal for relaxation and idea generation. Alongside these more vibrant furnishings, practical touches such as additional storage were also added to make sure each space was as convenient as it was uplifting to use.
Traditional workstations were given a contemporary facelift with a collection of high-spec desking and task chairs. Adjustable height desks accommodate the stature of each individual and allow them to find a seated or standing position that promotes their wellbeing. Updated conference and meeting furniture also brings a brighter, airier feel into larger interiors. The staff at Victoria House can now enjoy a range of environments that will support how they prefer to work and, ultimately, empower them to excel in their roles at the NHS.
